Hermann Kummell (1852-1937) was born in Berlin where he received his doctorate and became assistant to Max Schede at the municipal hospital in Friedrichshain. He later became Professor of Surgery at the University of Hamburg. Kummell's Disease (post-traumatic osteonecrosis) was first described by Kummell in 1891. |
