| Description | Extract from an Act of the Council of the City of Edinburgh, approving the Acts and Regulations of the Royal College of Surgeons, regarding the employment of apprentices - their length of service, and their status, "and it is" enacted that no Person who has served as an apprentice be hereafter admitted to trial as a Freeman till eight years be fully elapsed after his being booked an apprentice.
