Description | The baillies' judgement in favour of the Chirurgians of Edinburgh against George Bell (unfree chirurgian) who has contravened the "acts of Parliament, statutes and privileges of that trade," by embalming the corpse of the laird of Fodderall with a sear cloth. It is enacted that George Bell oblige himself "never to act or doe anything as ane Chirurgian or belonging to their trade in tyme coming at leist untill he be ane frieman under the paine of foirtie pounds Scots".
