Description | Petition for the Magistrates of Edinburgh and to the Lords of Council and Session desiring that they might assist in achieving a solution to the dispute between the chirurgians and apothecaries, which "has occasioned and is lyklie to continue much discord amongst the neighbours And since ther are more that has such experience and sensible feelings of the Inconveniencies arryseing from such debaits as your petitioners has in regard of our daylie converse with them, and that the lyke differences betwixt dissenting callings has been eassilie setled by foremer magistrats, and your petitioners having ane equall tenderness and kyndnes to both parties, We are willing by your L[ordships] permissione and with assistance of some of your number to offere such proposalls as we are hopefull shall tend to a freindlie setlement." Appended is the decision of the Lords to nominate Lords Colingtoune, Castilhill and Rorratt to meet with the magistrates and to hear what they have to propose in the matter. |
