Description |
Act of the provost, baillies, council and deacons of the craft against David Pringle, barber chirurgian of Heriot's Hospital, for his employing an unfreeman, Wililam Wood, a barber licensed to practise in Portsburgh only. Ordaining that any privileges granted to William Wood be rescinded in view of his "disobedient and contumacious" behaviour towards the Incorporation of Chirurgians of Edinburgh. David Pringle was condemned for having transgressed the acts of the calling by employing William Wood, for having neatly injured and affronted the Incorporation, and for having publicly and avowedly stated himself in opposition to the said Incorporation by countenancing the said William Wood in his disobedience, and actively advocating his liberation, and it was enacted that he be imprisoned within the Tolbooth at the council's pleasure. |
