Description | Undertaking and confession of William Wood to the Incorporation of Chirurgians of Edinburgh. Admitting that he has "transgressed the bounds and liberties" of the calling by cutting the hair of the boys of Heriot's Hospital, by virtue of his being an unfreeman and barber licensed to practise only in Portsburgh. He seeks their forgiveness and he promises that "in anytime hereafter shall be obedient to them" and shall "not exercise the trade of chirurgery within the cittie of Edinburgh." |
