Description This stethoscope, also known as a Pinard Horn, was used to listen to the baby's heartbeat once the mother was 18-20 weeks into her pregnancy. The flat end was placed to the doctor’s or midwife's ear and the horn end placed and moved around the mother's abdomen. Unlike the older wooden examples, the metal material can be easily sterilised and gives a better sound.
