Little is known about John Jossie except for the note in the Minutes of 3rd February 1702 that he was 'apprenticed to John Baillie and thereafter abroad for his improvement in the said art for six years'. Where he went is not stated but if he went to Leyden, he does not seem to have matriculated there. He appears to have died quite young because the last record of him was when he paid his quarterly dues in February 1708.
