Description | When the Red Cross flag was displayed, it was shelled by the enemy. According to the photographer, "the Union Jack was not flown alongside the Red Cross flag as this annoyed the Turks, and led to consequent shelling of Ambulance. The flags of the Highland Mounted Bridgade Field Ambulance and South Midland Field Ambulance are seen in the distance. The hills in the distance were held by the Turks". |
