Description | Act of provost, baillies and dean of guild in favour of the chirurgions and the requests made in their supplication protesting against the appointment of Arthure Temple, one of their number, to be a Captain of the Burgh and the likelihood of their again making "choys of him of uther of there calling for offices of that kynd." They allude to their ancient rights, privileges, immunities and exemptions from such charges and offices, their "Calling being such wherein the verie lyfes of poeple are concerned." The council grants to the "chirurgians friemen of this Burgh and there successors in there Calling that they be frie of all the offices or any charges of that kynd in all tyme comeing as also that they have the full injoyment and peaceable possessioun of all there uther severall and divers ancient rights, priviledges and immunities granted and ratified to them." |
