Act against Savage, unfreeman chirurgeon, who "natwithstanding he has bein prohibite be the counsall to use any of the airt of chirurgerie within this burgh and liberties obstinately he daylie uses the same to the prejudice of the said brethrein." Therefore the council ordains their officers to apprehend him and "putt him in waird thair to remayne till he be […] for desisting fra the said airt within this burgh under the payne of fortie poundis toties quoties". (4 July 1638). A further Act of Council enacted that John Savage "unfree chirurgian shall not be found "using nor exercising any of point of chirurgian craft either by himself or his servants at his command and direction within this burgh of Leith" |
