Declaration made by the magistrates and council of Edinburgh, stating that in the case of David Pringle against the Incorporation of Chirurgians of Edinburgh, they are "to take upon them the defence of the sd. suit… and defend the interest of the toune". (13 December 1671) David Pringle had been charged for employing an unfreeman, William Wood, to cut the hair of the boys of Heriot's Hospital, to which Pringle had retorted that the hospital "was not a pairt of this Burgh and that he called the acts made against him unwarrantable and that he craved to same to be rescinded." |
