Description "...died several times. He used to [be] awfully naughty, bit one of the Sister's hands when she tried to give him his medicine once. But he was always a very [illeg] boy & as he got better became more so. So what with one thing & another he has been thoroughly spoilt, a process which I have no doubt began in his own home, where he is the eldest boy, 24 years old only. Then come three sisters and a little brother of five. His Father is a smith, & he meant to be a smith too, but he has won the St George's medal & his crosses, & that means several roubles a month & he doesn't think he'll work at all now! He must have done something [illeg] good to get the St George's Crosses, but we have never found out what it is. The Russian Sister tried to get him to talk, but he just said "Oh, it was nothing, Sister". He is also a sous-officer. You hear his voice all over the Hospital now that he is getting about on crutches & everybody laughs and encourages him. He says he ought to get an English medal, for being five months in an English Hospital! Can't you imagine how proud they are of him at home?...Miss Henderson has been here with us and goes home tomorrow. She proposes to come back in September bringing one [illeg] stories with her, so...
