Description | James Young Simpson designed short obstetrical forceps used to assist delivery of babies from low down in the birth canal. He also designed longer forceps that were heavier in weight and could be used higher up the birth canal for extraction. A similar design for both the long and short models still bearing Simpson’s name continue to be used today. |
