Description "...Russian orderlies will stay with the Russian Red X, & we should not be allowed to take the Austrian prisoners. You cannot think [illeg] nice it is to have the Serbs. They are a fascinating people, & sometimes we & they always pull so well. One man came from Odessa for a small operation. The first-thing he said, still half unconscious from the chloroform was "Serbs jolly good"! We all said "Hear hear". He never [illeg], came out the chloroform like a child waking up from sleep, ate a good tea, laughed and talked, & then went sound asleep. I was amazed to find how I had forgotten this small amount of Serbian I know, but it is rapidly coming back. I wish I could tell you all interesting discussions on what is going to happen, but I'm afraid my letter would never get through. Today we had two sets of officers here about tea time, but their views directly contradicted one another, so we know no more than we did before. There is only one point they all seem to have got quite clear, & that is that if they won't fight Germany they'll have to fight England! My dear, I hope you people at home realise howo the whole...."
